House of Sheen X RCHE event photography
This semester, I was given the opportunity to be a part of House of Sheen’s new collection launch as a student photographer. I was with two other students, Siska and Betty.
House of Sheen is a brand that produces designer handbags made from exotic skin such as snakes. The founder, Shireena Manchharam is a stylish and engaging woman who champions collaboration and giving opportunities to students, hence the collaboration with my seniors from International Fashion Business Course for this new collection.
The new collection is inspired by the colors of peranakan, and suited to that, the event launch happened in magnificent Straits Clan in Tanjong Pagar. There were collection display, luggage tag personalisation, networking and shopping as well as sharing session by a travel writer.
I felt a little bit out of place when the event started, thankfully there were other raffles students, who were engaging the guests and doing personalisation that it made me feel at ease doing my job.
As I have learnt, in fashion industry, people are more likely to be pulled to buy products because of stories, branding and communication instead of just displaying new arrivals and hope people notice.
This time around, I was glad to have the excuse to be looking from the outside, through a lens, as it was an opportunity to observe. I learnt how much communication and activity planning meant when it comes to doing new collection launch event. Shireena and even my seniors, and my lecturer made sure to be nice and engage with the guests until the very end of the event.
Congratulations dear my seniors and to House of Sheen for the successful launch!
